Ricky Ponting bids farewell to ODIs

Ricky Ponting, one of the most magnificent batsman today and also the most successful captain of Australian team, has decided to end his One Day career. Australia dominated two consecutive World Cup titles of 2003 and 2007 under his captaincy.
His legendary skills at batting are second to none. In the race of records at making runs, only Sachin Tendulkar from India is ahead of him. Ponting has played 375 matches and made 13704 runs in ODI with an average of 42.03. He has got 30 centuries and 82 half centuries.

Ponting played his ODI debut match against South Africa in Feb 1995 at Wellington. In this match, he made just 1 runs. He was dropped out from the Australian team after his match against India at Brisbane where he made just 7 runs. He decided to call it quits and thus it became his last match in ODI. It was a disappointing end to this great player; hopefully we can still see him play in Test matches.
