Australia get an uncomfortable victory over Sri Lanka:Commonwealth Bank Series 3rd Match

     Australia had a close call today as they almost lost the match to Sri Lanka, but they narrowly got the victory of just 5 runs. Both teams today were struggling with their bats. The visitors won the toss and chose to field first. Australian team, who batted first made 231runs before being all out.  Clarke was the only man from the Australian team who completed half century. He was awarded player of the match for this contribution.

     Sri Lankan team came out to play with the target of 232. Though it was not a huge target, Australian bowlers made sure that it wasn't an easy task for the Lankan batsman and their efforts paid off. The Australian players did have hard times with Mathews as he batted well and took his team close to victory. But after he was caught, the remaining players failed to deliver victory. Sri Lankan team made 226 runs before being all out.

     With this victory, Australia acquired 4 points. Now Australia has 8 points, India has 4 points and Sri Lanka has 0 points after each team played 2 matches each.The next match will be held in Adelaide between Australia and India in Feb 12.
